It’s just that now the other Keyblade wielder are all back, she’s got the perfect support system to grow and meet people. They were never a typical trio to start because Sora held them together and now Kairi was quite literally left behind AGAIN. And people wonder why I want Kairi to make new friends before getting close to Sora again or to become friends with Riku…she’s been so isolated and hasn’t gotten the chance to meet enough people she connects with! She might not even know herself yet! We all see she’s got fire but her best chance really is training with Aqua instead of going with Riku and I’m thankful at least the writers didn’t make me feel like a fool for hoping she makes more connections outside of Sora and Riku. This is probably why she doesn’t expect anything and is kinda resigned, not really being explicit about how she feels to avoid making Sora feel more guilty. I’m realizing that part of the inevitable separation of Sora with Kairi is also shown through her literally holding his heart together, which is what likely makes her his Chirithy for the game and gave them a duo attack (both which won’t be present next time since her heart has returned), but the entire time she’s there he’s busy thinking about Riku and completely neglecting their friendship so…safe to say she probably knows this (it’s not her job to tell Sora this btw nor would it be fair to her) and I’m glad he at least tells her she’s strong and tries to make it up to her…even though it’s depressing to see how much it took for him to look her way.
